Malabo ready to host Regional Democracy Conference The United Nations Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa is organizing from October 28 to 30 2009, a three day conference on the theme “Towards the consolidation of Democracy in central Africa”. The Conference takes place in the Equato-Guinean capital Malabo.
Commemorative activities highlight UN’s role in fighting present day challenges Over 1000 pupils and students from schools and colleges around Yaoundé have been sensitized on the role of the United Nations in relation to present day challenges.
Regional Anti-discrimination seminar underway in Yaounde Some 30 participants representing government institutions, National Human Rights Institutions and civil society organizations from countries of the Central African sub region on Tuesday September 29th in Yaounde Cameroon, began examining ways and means of fighting racial discrimination and related practices such as xenophobia and intolerance.
Encouraging turn-out for Democracy Day conference-debate 15/09/2009 - 45 representatives of non governmental organisations, civil society, the media as well as the National Anti corruption commission (CONAC) and the new elections management body in Cameroon (ELECAM) took part in the conference debate at the United Nations Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Central Africa to mark the 2nd edition of the International day of Democracy last September 15th.
